The California Heritage Museum, an historic landmark building located in the heart of Santa Monica's Main Street, offers exciting exhibits and programs year round.

Museum Mission

To present displays of American decorative and fine arts and to promote the passion that is collecting.

About the Museum

Built in 1894 by nationally renowned architect Sumner P. Hunt for the son of Santa Monica's founder, Roy Jones, the Heritage Museum has been open to the public since 1980. Since then, the Museum has developed a devoted following of fans who appreciate its innovative and intimate character.

In addition to the permanent collection of California furniture and pottery, the Museum features special exhibits highlighting various aspects and periods of decorative and fine arts in California.

Past exhibitions have included Depression glass, California pottery, quilts, Hawaiiana, surf boards, Mexican pottery, and Arts and Crafts Movement furniture and pottery. The exhibits are usually in room settings that encourage the visitor to begin (if they have not already started) their own exciting collection.
